There are two types of Parts that can be created in Isolocity:

What is the difference between an Unfinished and Finished Part or Product?


In our system, unfinished goods are considered raw materials—items that haven’t yet been assembled or processed. Finished goods are products that have a bill of materials and are fully assembled, ready for sale or use. This distinction helps ensure accurate inventory tracking and production planning.

Adding A New Part or Product

Step #1

Click "Part/Activity Manager".

Note: Depending on when your organization began using Isolocity, this module may appear as a different name.


Step #2

Click "Create Product"


Step #3

Select whether your product is a "Finished Product".


Step #4

Complete the "Identification and Tracking" section by completing the following fields:

  • Parent Product
  • Product Number
  • Name
  • Current Lot/Batch
  • Product Types
  • Re-order Point
  • Min Level
  • Max Level
  • Rev Level
  • Rev Date

Step #5

Click "Create Product" to save your progress.


Step #6

Complete the "Shelf Life & Storage Conditions" section by completing the following fields:

  • Frequency
  • Duration
  • Storage Conditions

Step #7

Complete the "Linked Data" section by completing the following fields:

  • Supplier
  • Templates
  • Customer
  • Equipment
  • Department
  • Secondary Part ID

Step #8

Complete the "Units and Density" section by completing the following fields:

  • Unit Type
  • Unit of Measure
  • Density
  • Mass Unit
  • Volume Unit
  • Acceptance Ratio

Step #9

Complete the "Cost Tracking" section by completing the following fields:

  • Cost Type
  • Cost per

Step #10

This and the following steps are only to be conducted for Finished Products.  If you are creating an Unfinished Product, you have completed the workflow at Step #9.  Select a product to add to the bill of materials and repeat until all products are added.

Select a product to add to the by-products and repeat until all products are added.
